Movies & biometrics
Le cinéma et la biométrie
Hollywood is using biometrics for years, but not that much. I'm collecting these movies, updating this page from time to time, and some are still to be checked!
Images are copyrighted by their respective owners. This is a non-profit website, just expecting to encourage people to see these movies !

What is a movie with some biometrics inside ?
- We are speaking of an « automated » system. But for old movies, it's not adapted.
- When the matching is done by a human, there should be :
- An enrollment. For instance, a fingerprint on a fingerprint card.
- A matching with a captured biometric trait. For instance, a latent fingerprint.
- Matching can be done by a human, comparing the acquisition at enrollment, and the acquisition to match.
So this is excluding matching done by a witness, remembering having seen such person at such place.
A physical trace must exist to perform the comparison, in order to be included in my list.
For instance, a trace can be a voice record.
That said, there are some exceptions, especially for old movies.
Last, but not least. I do not collect all the episodes from serials with biometrics, that's too much 😰 For instance :
- [2001] Alias, season 1, episode 9 "Mea Culpa" :
a camera able to manufacture a fake fingerprint directly from a photo. Sure, this does not exist.
- [1971] Colombo
- [1966] Mission: Impossible (forcément)
- [1965] The F.B.I.
- [1963] The Lawbreakers
- [1963] My Favorite Martian
- [1957] Perry Mason
- [1957] Alfred Hitchcock Presents
- [1955] N.O.P.D.
- [1941] Dick Tracy vs. Crime, Inc.
- [1941] The Spider Returns
- [1931] Finger Prints (also a movie in 1927)
